Michael Matthew “Matt” Smith, 63, of Battleground, passed away on June 21, 2023 in Monticello. He was born January 31, 1960 in Lafayette to Harry Marvin Smith and the late Joyce (Partlow) Smith. Matt was a 1978 graduate of William Henry Harrison High School. He served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge.

His marriage was to Ronnda Stout on July 10, 2003 in Monticello and she survives him.

Matt was employed with Wabash National for 21 years as Production Manager & Sales. Matt also worked for CIMC / VNG for 10 years in the sales department. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, bird watching, gardening, boating, and hunting.

Surviving along with his wife and father, are children, Michael Shane Smith, Jarrod Smith, Brianna, and Amanda; brother, Mark Smith. Matt is also survived by a granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Smith Age 3.

Preceding him in death along with his mother is a step-son, Adam Russell Stout.

A celebration of life will be held from 11:30 AM-5:00 PM (EDT) on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 6641 N. 1225 W. Monticello, IN 47960. Celebration of life service will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment of ashes will be held at Pretty Prairie Cemetery of Battle Ground at a later date.
