Stanley A. Stewart, 71, of Indianapolis, formerly of Monon, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at IU University Hospital of Indianapolis.  He had been in failing health for quite some time.

  Stan was born March 29, 1952, in Peru, Indiana to the late Marvin E. and Frances L. (Stouffer) Stewart.  He was a 1971 graduate of North White High School and went on to earn his secondary degree from Vincennes University.

  Stan held several positions throughout his career with Roche Diagnostics of Indianapolis.  He enjoyed the daily interaction with his co-workers and clients.

  Stan’s parents owned and operated the local funeral home in Monon for many years next to the United Methodist Church of which the family was all members.  Monon always held a special place in Stan’s heart.

  Stan loved being outdoors and spending time with his cats.  He also enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews and their children compete during high school then follow them in their careers.

  Surviving is his brother, Michael E. Stewart (wife: Svetlana) of Brown Summit, NC; three nephews, Christopher W. Stewart (wife: Allison) of Chicago, IL, Bradley E. Stewart (wife: Heather) of Greensboro, NC and Ryan E. Stewart (wife: Christa) of Crozet, VA.  Stan loved spending time with family, especially his nephews and their children, Madelyn, Gavin, Marvin, Isabella, Zachary and Audrey.

  Friends may call from 12 p.m. (noon) until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon; Rev. Adrienne Hinshaw of the Monon United Methodist Church to officiate.  Interment to follow next to his parents in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Stan’s name to the Monon United Methodist Church.
