Phillip E. "Phil" Speer, 62, of Monticello, Indiana, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 150 p.m. in Benton County, Indiana, very unexpectedly.

Phil was born on Monday, April 10, 1961, in Monticello, Indiana to Robert E. and Mary L. (Nichols) Speer. They both preceded him in death.

Phil had worked and raised livestock on the family farm for most of his life.  He also had worked at old Wilsons now, Tyson's of Logansport for over 20 years, looking forward to retirement.

Phil is survived by his brother, John Speer of Remington, Indiana, and special friend, Amy (husband Les) Thurston of Illinois. 

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Mary L. (Nichols) Speer; grandparents, Bertice E. and Edith E. (Tuell) Speer and Vinyl and Lorene (Deimer) Nichols; aunt, Patricia Alpha and Marleen Sheidler-Dalton, uncle, Charles "Butch" Speer.

A graveside gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Yeoman Cemetery of rural Monticello, Indiana, with Rev. Ian McMillan of the First Baptist Church officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Yeoman Cemetery.
