Stephen Glen Burton, 73, of Kentland, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.

He was born June 21, 1950 in Watseka, IL to the late Glen and Mercile (Whaley) Burton. Stephen was a 1971 graduate of South Newton High School.

His marriage was to Janet Chamberlain on July 22, 1975 in Mt. Ayr Methodist Church; she survives him.

Stephen was a lifelong farmer and was a member of Mt. Zion Church in Kentland and Goodland Lions Club. He loved helping his friends and giving back to his community and volunteering with the Newton County Fair.  Stephen also enjoyed solving puzzles.

Surviving along with his wife are siblings, Mike Burton (Carolyn) and Sharon Lipp (Denny). Stephen is also survived by 5 nephews, 5 nieces, 10 great nephews, and 1 great niece.

Preceding him in death along with his parents is a niece, Sarah Lipp.

Friends may call from 10:30 AM until the time of Memorial Service 12:30 PM (CST) Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church (11233 S. 500 W. Kentland, IN 47951).

Memorial contributions may be made in Stephen’s name to Mt. Zion Church of Kentland or Goodland Lions Club.
