Kathryn Ann “Kate” McVey Cunningham, 84, of Lafayette, passed away at her home on April 7, 2024, at 8:50 a.m.  

  Kate was born November 20, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late George and Helen (Boyland) Watson.  She was a 1957 graduate of Frontier High School.

  Her first marriage was to Alonzo Paul McVey who preceded her in death.  She later married Alfred “Jack” Cunningham who also precedes her.

  Kate was retired from the office at TRW in Lafayette.  She was also a librarian, banker and florist.

  Kate was kind, loving and giving; she was generous to everybody.  She loved animals, especially her dogs and enjoyed spending time with her family.  Kate was always prim and proper and enjoyed being dressed up.  She loved sitting in the sun and wintering in Vero Beach, Florida.  She also enjoyed making silk floral arrangements and was an accomplished organist.  

  Kate was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Psi Iota Xi Sorority of Brookston.

  Surviving are her grandchildren, Jessica McVey, Hunter McVey, David Walker and C.J. Charles Walker Jr.  Also surviving is a sister-in-law, JoAnn Watson and her great-grandchildren, Memphis, Chase, Ethan, Layla, William, Tylee, Violet, Anthony, Kaden, Kameran and McKennly and one great-great-grandson, Asher.

  Graveside services to be held Monday, May 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery of West Lafayette; Pastor Scott Lehr to officiate.  

Memorials may be made in her name to the Almost Home Humane Society.
