Robert Northern, 70, of Kentland, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at IU Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis. He was born June 13, 1953 to the late Charles R. Northern and Genevieve (Hall) Lowry.

Robert was a 1970 graduate of Benton Central High School. He served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge.

His marriage was to Judy Elaine Gregory on April 22, 1972 in Watseka. Judy preceded him in death on November 18, 2011.

Robert worked for Sheldon Transportation for over 20 years. He had previously worked for Zeitner and Sons of Omaha, NE for 11 years.

Robert enjoyed dirt track racing, cooking, Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and rides on the golf cart. He loved time spent with his grandchildren and was a frequent visitor at Good Table Restaurant where he enjoyed conversation with the servers.

He is survived by his children, Lori (Lon Rhanor) Markley of Kentland, Les Gregory of Fowler, Jonathan Northern of Rensselaer, and Jimmy Northern of Attica. Siblings, Charles Northern of Fowler, Mike Villinski of Kentland, Pam Kult of Fowler, Lou Villinski of Kentland, and Peggy Villinski also of Kentland. Three honorary daughters Melva Childress, Delia Northern, and Ronda Crane. Robert is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his wife and parents is a brother, Ronald; brother-in-law, Rich Kult; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Lillie Enlow. He is also preceded by a grandson, Brandon M. Northern and honorary daughter, Alesa Conyac.
