Sandra (Sandy) Carol Mitchell, 67, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. She was born October 18, 1956, in Lafayette, IN to Cletus Mitchell and the late Geneve Anne (Comer) Mitchell.

Sandy graduated from Kankakee (Illinois) Eastridge High School in 1975 and then graduated from Illinois State University in 1979 with a B.S. degree in Medical Laboratory Science.  She enjoyed a long career as a medical technologist in both Cincinnati, OH and Bowling Green, KY until her retirement in 2021. For a time, Sandy was also employed as a medical coding instructor in Bowling Green.  She volunteered for many years at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

Above all, Sandy loved her family, her dogs (Dusty, Toby, Mallory, and Mishka), reading, travel, cross-stitch, and shopping.  She will be remembered for her amusing chuckle and her sassy, southern soul.

Sandy is preceded in death by her mother. Surviving along with her father, are four brothers: Dr. Jeffrey Mitchell (wife: Mary) of Battle Creek, MI, Kevin Mitchell (wife: Holly) of Canton, GA, Jay Mitchell (wife: Audrey) of Williamsburg, VA, and John Mitchell of Bowling Green, KY.  Sandra is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Friends may call from 12 Noon (EDT) until the time of funeral service 1 PM (EDT) Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston, IN. Interment to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette, IN.
