Neal E. Roy Jr., 67, of Brookston, passed away at Witham Hospital of Lebanon on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 after suffering a heart attack while at work. He was born April 14, 1957 in Hammond, IN to Linda J. (Delaney) Roy and the late Neal E. Roy Sr. 

Neal was a proud United States Marine serving during the Vietnam era from 1974 until his honorable discharge in 1981.  Neal was a Sergeant with the 1st ANGLICO unit specializing in combined arms, fire support and communications capabilities.  In his unit, Neal served as a jump master and field radio operator; while in Okinawa, he served as part of the 3rd Force Recon Company.  

He married the love of his life, Michel Ayers on December 20, 1980 in Los Angeles, CA and she survives. 

He was a career truck driver, most recently for Maximus Trucking of Lafayette. Neal enjoyed taking care of his pickup truck, fishing and cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandkids. He had the biggest heart, always donating grocery items to the local food pantry and making sure the Angel Tree was filled at Christmas time with presents for children in need. 

Surviving along with his wife and mother are children, Miki (Nick) Klotz and Neal (Natasha) Roy III. Five grandchildren, Shyann, Nicholas, Isiah, Miley, and Kimmee. Siblings, Sheila (Frank) Angel, Gwen (Ron) Purcell, Glenda (Allen) Banister, Teresa (Robert) Barrett, and Robert (Kim) Roy. 

Preceding him in death is his father, Neal Sr. and a brother, Ben Roy. 

A celebration of Neal’s life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM (EST) Friday, August 2, 2024 at the Brookston American Legion Post 251. 

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial contributions may be made in Neal’s name to the Brookston American Legion Post 251 or the Brookston United Methodist Church.
