Helen Maxine Christensen-Alspaugh, 99, of Texas, formerly of Monticello, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at her son’s home in Texas. 

She was born on March 19, 1925, to the late Dale and Pearl (Hinshaw) Bowsher. 

Helen married George Russell Christensen on February 15, 1946, in Monticello. He passed away on March 16, 1975. Helen then married Lennie L. Alspaugh on June 5, 1976, in Monticello. He passed away on February 21, 2023. 

Helen had spent most of her life in the Monticello community. 

She was a faithful member of the Monticello Christian Church since she was 6 years old. 

Helen worked for the Twin Lakes School Corporation in the cafeteria for many years. She had served as a precinct committee person for several years. 

She is survived by her two sons, Rev. Dick Christensen (wife, Vicky) of Florida and Bill Christensen (wife, Norma) of Texas; a sister, Norma Street of Florida; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Christensen of Cannon Lake, Texas; ten grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one great grandchild and two step-great grandchildren.

Along with Helen’s parents and two husbands’, she is preceded in death by a son, Steven Christensen; brother, Rev. Robert Manes and stepsister, Maxine Hudson. 

A private burial will be held at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monticello at a later date.
