Richard Austin,79, of Monticello, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on November 13, 2024. Born on January 5, 1945, to the late Clifford A. and Virginia (Mayhew) Austin, Richard was a lifelong resident of Monticello. He married Linda DeHaven on March 29, 1964, at the Nazarene Church in Monticello, Indiana.

Richard was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 81 in Monticello. His career spanned several companies, including Sixbees, RCA, Willson, and he retired from Wabash in Lafayette. Richard had a passion for raising livestock, fixing up his rental properties, and cherished spending time with his family and grandbabies.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his son, Rick Lee Austin, and his fiancé, Jennifer, of Florida; his brother, Bob Austin, and his wife, Valerie, of Logansport; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his son Gary Joe “Bo” Austin, and his sister, Margaret Million.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Richard’s life on Saturday, November 16, 2024, with visitation starting at 11:00 am and a service at 1:00 pm at the Fred L. Miller Memorial Chapel of the Roscka Roth & Clapper Funeral Home in Monticello.

Interment will follow at Yeoman Cemetery.
