Born in South Bend, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of the late Donald and Mary (Harrington) Ginter. Joan was a proud graduate of New Carlisle High School, class of 1968, and went on to earn her BA from Purdue University.

Joan dedicated over 30 years of her life as a devoted UPS delivery driver, where she found joy in meeting the people on her routes.

Her artistic talents were vast, spanning ceramics, needlework, quilting, watercolors, knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She was actively involved in numerous artists and sewing groups throughout her life.

A voracious reader with a big heart for animals, especially cats, Joan was a volunteer and active supporter of local elections and voting activities. She felt a strong civic and community connection through her work as a census enumerator. Joan was a passionate advocate for women's solidarity, empowerment, and rights.

She is survived by her beloved cat, Nanette, and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service. Friends and family are encouraged to celebrate Joan's life in their own special way.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Happy Tails Animal Shelter in White County or by donating a book to your local library in Joan's memory.
