Alexander "A.J." Simonton

( December 21, 2003 - October 30, 2025 )

Alexander “A.J.” Simonton, 21, of Roselawn, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Franciscan Hospital of Crown Point. One of the sons of Anna (Samuelson) Simonton and the late Robert Simonton, A.J. was born on December 21, 2003 in South Bend, IN

A.J. had a pure and joyful spirit. Though limited in his body by the cerebral palsy that bound him, his ability to bring light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him was boundless. A.J. loved watching television—especially his favorite show, The Lion Guard, and his beloved movie, The Lion King. The joy he felt during his favorite moments was contagious; his excitement often came out in happy shouts that filled the room and made everyone smile. His family will forever remember his laughter, his energy, and the happiness he brought into their lives.

A.J. is survived by his mother, Anna Simonton; maternal grandparents, James and Rebecca Longster of Lafayette; siblings Christopher (Kaylin) Simonton, Samantha (David) Fee, Jasmine Simonton, William Simonton, Brennan Simonton, Jessica Simonton, and Joseph Villalpando; as well as his beloved nieces and nephews who brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Simonton, maternal grandfather William Whitus, and paternal grandparents, Ross Simonton and Eleanor Long.

Though A.J.’s time on earth was short, his impact was profound. His delighted chuckle, the light that shone from his eyes whenever his loved ones engaged with him, and the gentle love and playful nature he managed to communicate, despite his physical limitations, will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A private celebration of A.J.’s life will be held by his family and loved ones at a later date.  Messages of condolence may be sent to:
