Michael E. Steele, 71, of Monon, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Born on September 15, 1954, in Lafayette, he was the beloved son of Martha J. Steele and the late Edward M. Steele. A proud graduate of North White High School in 1973, Mike dedicated many years of his career to Gutwein Motor Co. of Monon before retiring.

Mike had a passion for body work on cars and cherished the moments spent with his family at the cottage, often sharing an ice-cold beer. He is survived by his loving mother, Martha Steele; his siblings, Patsy (Dick) Leis of Buffalo and Steven (Kimberly) Steele of Monon; and his uncle, Jim James. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward M. Steele, his sister, Carol (Edward) Wheeldon, and numerous uncles and aunts.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM (EST) until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM (EST) on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon, located half a mile east of North White High School. Pastor Adrienne Hinshaw of the Monon Global Methodist Church will officiate the service, with interment to follow in Bedford Cemetery.
