Deanna “Dede” Blanke, 88, of Kentland, passed away at her home on Friday, August 28, 2026. Born on February 22, 1938, in New Iberia, LA, she was the beloved daughter of the late John (Moon) Mullen and Rose B. (Rusk) Mullen. Dede was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of 1956.

On October 8, 1960, she married Jerry R. Blanke in Canton, IL, and together they made their home in Kentland for many years until Jerry's passing on December 27, 2007. Dede was a devoted homemaker, known for her exceptional cooking and decorating skills. She had a passion for playing women’s softball and volleyball, and a deep love for horses and all animals.

Dede is survived by her loving daughter, Daphne Foxen of Fishers, IN, and her son, Brandan Blanke of Smyrna, TN. She was a cherished grandmother to Lindzy Solomon, Blaze, Cruze, and Izak Blanke, and a great-grandmother to Zoey, Paizley, Kellan, Cove, Scarlet, August, River, and Emery Blanke. Dede is also survived by her sister, Cathy Schneider.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, and her brother, Jack “Kayo” McCarthy Mullen.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 AM (CST) on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM (CST) in Fairlawn Cemetery of Kentland.
