In Loving Memory of Vicki (Anker) Kay Freimuth

Vicki Kay Freimuth of Monticello, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on September 22, 2026, surrounded by the love that meant so much to her throughout her life.

To me, she was my wife, my best friend, and the love of my life for 57 years. To our children and grandchildren, she was Mom, Oma , and the person they could always count on. To so many others, she was a friend, a caregiver, a listening ear, and sometimes the person who told you exactly what you needed to hear.

Vicki was never afraid to tell it like it was. She had a strong spirit and an even bigger heart. She believed in tough love—and she lived it. She could be wonderfully direct, but behind those words was always a desire to help, protect, and make things better. If someone was hurting or in need, Vicki didn’t hesitate. She would do whatever she could to help.

She was born to Robert and Alice Jean Anker in Wolcott, Indiana, on September 12, 1951. She followed her dad to Iowa and then Minnesota, where she graduated from Adrian High School in 1969. That same year, on August 1, she married her high school sweetheart, Dale Freimuth, at Lismore Presbyterian Church.

And so began our life together.

Our young family followed my career with Sutherlands Lumber, moving from Iowa to Colorado and eventually to the Salt Lake Valley of Utah. Through every move and every new chapter, Vicki was the constant. Wherever we went, she brought life with her. She could light up a room, and always seemed to find the fun in whatever situation we were in. Vicki was the life of the party, but she was also the person who noticed when someone needed a little extra care.

Along the way, she opened our home to children through daycare, giving countless kids a place where they were cared for and loved. She had a natural gift for caring for others. That caretaker’s heart showed itself in the way she loved animals, helped family, and welcomed friends into our lives who became family.

When I retired, we returned to Vicki’s family’s century farm outside Monticello, Indiana. It was a special place for her, and coming home gave her the opportunity to be close to family again. She continued helping those in need through CDC and became a familiar face at Royal Spa of Monticello, Merrillville, and Lafayette. She loved being around people and, most of all, she loved having family close.

Vicki loved her flowers. She loved her pea salad. She loved her pets. She loved a good time and a good laugh. But more than anything, Vicki loved her family.

She is survived by her husband, Dale; her three sons, Scott (Rendi) of West Jordan, UT, Craig (Tina) of West Jordan, UT, and Rev. Kurtis (Andrea) of Deshler, OH; six grandchildren, Ashton (Maria), Avery (Lucy), Ella, Kyle (Emily), Fiona, and Dale; and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Maddox, and Wade.

Vicki, after 57 years together, I still don’t know how to imagine this life without you. You were my wife, my best friend, and the love of my life. We built a family, moved across the country, made a home wherever we were, and shared more memories than I could ever put into words.

I will miss your laugh, your honesty, your stubbornness, your big heart, and all the little things that made you Vicki. I will miss having you beside me, and I will miss the life we shared together. But I will always be grateful that I got to walk through this life with you.

You gave me a beautiful family. You filled our home with love, laughter, and sometimes a little bit of chaos. You cared for people, you stood up for the people you loved, and you never hesitated to be exactly who you were.

I love you, Vicki, and I always will.

Until we meet again,
