Marvin was born May 23, 1936 in Rensselaer, Indiana, the son of Russell Lambert and Opal Walton Lambert.  Betty was born March 2, 1937 in Rensselaer, Indiana, the daughter of Carl Culp and Jean Brugh Culp.  The pair knew each other since the fifth grade, lived only a block apart, attended the same church, and had many of the in-common friends/family acquaintances.

The two were high school sweethearts, both graduating from Remington High School in 1955.  Marvin then attended the University of Cincinnati, obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering, while Betty attended the Patricia Stevens Business College in Chicago.

Upon graduating, Marvin and Betty married on November 3, 1957 in Remington, IN at the First Christian Church.

Through the years, she also worked at Carpenter’s Drug Store, and Vernco/Ventra before retiring in 1988.  Marvin retired from the utilities in 1998 but continued working for a short time in consulting with a friend.

Marvin served in the Indiana National Guard for several years, including time during the Korean War and Berlin Wall crisis, and was a member of the American Legion.  Other memberships included the Murat Shrine, Moose Lodge, and other multiple organizations.  Betty was a member of many organizations, including First Christian Church, the Moose Lodge, Happy Homemakers Home-Ec Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Columbus Arts Guild.

Marvin and Betty volunteered with various youth endeavors, especially the Boy Scouts of America.  During their free time, they enjoyed music, singing, fishing, camping and boating with their family.  Betty and Marvin spent their winters in the lower valley of Texas for many years.
