Andrew F. Brooks

October 23, 1930 - May 04, 2023

Andrew “Andy” F. Brooks, age 92, West Lafayette, IN.

Andrew F. Brooks, 92, of West Lafayette, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023, surrounded by his family. Andy was born on October 23, 1930 in Summertown, TN to Coyla McKee. Andy attended Lafayette Jeff High School, joined the Army at age 17, and then served in the Korean War. He was married to the love of his life, Delaney Brooks, for 58 years until she passed away in 2012. Andy started his career working for Lafayette Radio. Later, Andy and Delaney owned and operated Brooks TV in Lafayette for 20+ years. They enjoyed traveling with their children, bowling, and golfing together. Andy was inducted into the Lafayette Bowling Hall of Fame in 2002. They also enjoyed long walks and inspired others to stay active. Some of these walks were spent on their property, tending to their vegetable garden, grape arbor, and fruit and nut trees. Andy cherished his family, his friends, the waitresses at his regular restaurants, and the staff at his dialysis center. He had a sharp wit, gregarious laugh, and he gave the best hugs. Andy was an avid reader and amassed enough books to fill his personal library to overflowing. His book collecting took him all over the state of Indiana, and he never needed an gps app to tell him how to get where he was going.

Andy is survived and dearly missed by his son Kirk Brooks (wife Dorrie) of Lafayette, IN and to his daughter Coyla “CJ” Rohler (husband Mike) of Lafayette, IN.  He was also a terrific grandfather to his grandchildren, Krystal (husband Justin and daughter Grace) Hitchcock of Lafayette, IN, Brandon (wife Autumn, (son)Ty (daughter Sonya) Brooks of Lafayette, IN, Michael (wife Susan and sons Drew, Peyton, and Kylan) Rohler of West Lafayette, IN, Jennifer (husband Steve, sons Brice and Dylan) Rider of West Lafayette, IN, and Matt (wife Lindsay and daughter Della) Rohler of Manor, TX.

He is also survived by his sisters, Tootsie Tharp and Norma Doyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Howard Plant, his brother Leon Plant and his wife.

Thank you to the staff, nurses, and doctors who provided excellent and compassionate care. Also appreciated are the many friends and family who visited Andy to share their stories and memories.

While he maintained a successful career, he also enjoyed travelling with his family, bowl, golf, and reading books.  Andy also spent many years volunteering at Food Finders with his wife.

A graveside service will be held at the Oxford West Cemetery on May12th at 3pm.   Andy will be buried at the Oxford West Cemetery in Oxford, IN with a private family and friends service with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post 492.
