Arnold's Obituary
Arnold L. Dahlenburg, 88, of Reynolds, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by his wife and family.
Arnie was born June 9, 1937, on the family farm in Reynolds, to the late Walter E. and Gladys M. (Demaray). He was a proud Reynolds Ranger graduating in 1955.
Arnie served in the National Guard for 6 years while also helping his father on the farm.
His marriage of 64 years was to Lorretta St. Pierre on January 28, 1961, in St. James Lutheran Church of Reynolds. Together, he and Lorretta would share their lives and many wonderful years raising their five children on the family farm.
Arnie was a true farmer; he loved everything about it, and it was obvious to everyone who knew him. He enjoyed spending his days tending to his livestock and working in the fields, a legacy he would pass down to his children.
Arnie was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and also served on the North White School Board.
Arnie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whenever there was a baby around Arnie would always want to hold it. Arnie never knew a stranger and could talk for hours to anybody. He had a great sense of humor and a knack for finding a way to bring up peoples funny or embarrassing stories. One of his favorite things was buying two cars, one for Loretta and one for him, that were favorites of theirs from when they were young; Arnie’s was his 1957 Chevy. Arnie was also an Indiana Hoosier fan, especially of Bobby Knight. In his later years, Arnie enjoyed small detail work like latch hook and diamond point crafts.
Surviving with his wife Lorretta are their five children, Christine Dahlenburg, Corrine Cooley (Jeff), Cary Dahlenburg, Char-Lynn Hitch (Scott) and Chad Dahlenburg (Tara); his grandchildren, Danielle Chatelain (David), Natasha Marcheschi (Tony), Rachel Rider (Jacob), Colton Cooley, Brook DuVall (Nolan), Kevin Dahlenburg, Noah Dahlenburg, Kinley Dahlenburg, Devyn Dahlenburg and Quinn Dahlenburg and their 6 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death with his parents are three brothers and their wives, Herbert Dahlenburg (Helen), Richard Dahlenburg (Eldine) and Dale Dahlenburg (Ruth) and a sister, Esther Dahlenburg.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m. (noon) Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Arnie’s name to Honey Creek Township to be used for the Reynolds school gym floor renovation.
