Barbara Dye Thayer
Barbara Dye Thayer, 92, of Wolcott, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at her home. She was born October 6, 1930 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Robert M. and Mary (Downing) Dye. Barbara was a 1948 graduate of Wolcott High School and Valedictorian of her class. She graduated With Distinction from Purdue University in 1952 with a BS from the School of Science. While at Purdue, Barbara was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was also a member of Psi Iota XI Sorority of Wolcott.
Her marriage was to Allen B. Thayer in 1953.
Mrs. Thayer taught 4th grade at Rensselaer Elementary School and Sunday School at Wolcott. She served as an Elder in the Meadow Lake Presbyterian Church. Barbara worked for Purdue University in the Engineering Research Center. She continued to work at Thayer Inc. serving as President. Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother.
Barbara is survived by her children, A. Robert (Claudia) Thayer of West Lafayette and James J. (Christine) Thayer of Monticello. Grandchildren, James Robert (Kristine) Thayer, Jared J. Thayer, and Amanda S. Thayer. Step-grandson, Gabriel (Rachel) Deambrogio. Barbara is also survived by her 3 great-grandchildren, Baylee Elizabeth Thayer age 7, Ainsley Ann Thayer age 5, Bennett Carl Thayer age 1.
Preceding her in death along with her parents are siblings, Jane Dye, Nancy Dye Beck, Joyce Dye Folk.
Friends may call from 2 PM (EST) until the time of Funeral Service 3 PM (EST) Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Meadow Lake Presbyterian Church of Wolcott. Interment to follow in Meadow Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial contributions may be made to the Wolcott Public Library.
