Bill's Obituary

U.S. Veteran

Bill W. Morris, 93, of Monon, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 8:25 p.m. on March 31, 2026, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Francesville.

Born on March 2, 1933, in Monon, Indiana, Bill was the son of Bert Nathan and Effie (Combs) Morris. He grew up in Wolcott before returning to Monon, the place he would call home for the rest of his life. A graduate of Monon High School, Bill went on to serve his country in United States Army.

On May 23, 1954, Bill married the love of his life, Charlotte Hahn, in Monon. Together they shared 71 years of marriage-a partnership rooted in devotion, laughter, and deep love. Charlotte survives, along with a lifetime of cherished memories.

Bill was, at heart, a farmer.  The rhythm of the seasons was the rhythm of his life- planting hope in the spring, working tirelessly through the summer, harvesting in the fall, and somehow never resting in the winter. Even in the off-season, Bill could be found at work, whether at the Monon Stone Quarry or Monon Trailer. Retirement for Bill, simply meant having more time to stay busy. He helped at Dye Lumber after retiring from farming.

A skilled mechanic, craftsman, Bill spent countless hours in his barn workshop, where wood shavings curled at his feet and ideas took shape in his hands. There, under the name “Country Cobblers”, he and his wife sold their handmade creations-each carrying a bit of pride and steady craftsmanship.

Bill also built more than furniture- he built homes, friendships, and a life rich in community. He attended the Monon Community Church and Faith Covenant Church of Monticello. He enjoyed the simple pleasures; a good game of euchre, the camaraderie of the church dart ball team, and lively rounds of cornhole at the campground.

Along with his lovely wife, Charlotte, he is survived by three children, Terry Harvey (husband, Kent) of Monon, Debbie Kopka (husband, Don) of Monon and Bill Morris (wife, Debbie) of Dadeville, Alabama; one sister, Barb Bittner of Monticello; four grandchildren, Bart Harvey, Shaun Harvey, Andrea Cosby and Nathan Morris; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by sister, Gerty Gudeman and twin sisters Beatrice Munsterman and Bing Reynolds.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Clapper Family Funeral Home in Monon from 11:00 a.m until time of services celebrating Bill’s life at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Messer officiating.
