Bryan Young

September 07, 1951 - December 25, 2018

Kenneth “Bryan” Young, 67, of Fowler, passed from this life on Christmas Day, 2018, at Franciscan Health of Lafayette.

He was born September 7, 1951 in Lafayette to the late Kenneth and Colleen (Lucas) Young. He attended the Pine Township, Otterbein and Oxford schools and was a 1969 graduate of Benton Central High School.

He loved farming and country life and was most at home in his own woods. In addition to farming, Bryan was the Vice President of the Lafayette Branch of Meyer Plastics in Lafayette where he worked with his wife, Janet, for the past 28 years.

Known for his quick smile, hearty laugh as well as his teasing nature, Bryan was a generous man with an interest in lending a hand where needed. One of his specialties was making B and J homemade barbeque sauce with his own secret recipe while having a few Coors Lights. This was a favorite family Christmas gift with ingredients from the family garden. Bryan will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

His marriage of 48 years was to Janet Barnard on April 25, 1970 in the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Oxford; she survives. The couple raised three children, Angela Sondgeroth (husband: Jason) of Ooltewah, TN, Andrew Young of Lafayette and Christopher Young (wife: Kayla) of Pine Village. Bryan was the proud grandpa to six beautiful grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joseph and Katherine Sondgeroth, Isabella and Bryson Young and Blaine Kenneth Young. Also surviving is a sister, Belinda Gutwein (husband: Ed) of Monticello.

Preceding him in death with his parents is an infant daughter, Branden and two brothers, Blaine and Bruce Young.
