Charles' Obituary

U.S. Veteran

Charles W. Foley, 84, of Monticello, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 7:50 a.m. on June 11, 2026.

Born on August 27, 1941, in Logansport, Indiana, Charles was the son of the late Wilbert Webb Foley and Iva Ester (Downs) Foley.

He spent his formative years in the Yeoman and Monticello communities, attending Yeoman Grade School for eight years before graduating from Monticello High School with the class of 1959.

Following graduation, Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany with the 23rd Battalion and was honorably discharged in August of 1962. He was a life member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

Charles worked in Monticello from 1962 until 1967 before beginning a long and successful career at Chrysler Transmission in Kokomo. After 30 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1997. Retirement took him to Florida for nine years before he returned home to Monticello in May of 2006.

He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and amateur radio. Golf held a special place in his heart, and of his favorite goals was to live long enough to “shoot his age” on the golf course. Charles will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Dorothy.

Visitation will be held at Roscka Roth & Clapper Funeral Home in Monticello, Indiana on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services celebrating Charles’s life at 1:00 p.m.

Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Riley’s Hospital.

Roscka Roth & Clapper Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
