Charlotte J. Whiteman, 79, of Lafayette, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born December 23, 1941 in Lafayette to the late Kenneth and Mary (Kiger) Prince and was a 1959 graduate of Lafayette Jeff High School.
Her marriage of 59 years was to John R. Whiteman on November 17, 1961 at Grace United Methodist Church in Lafayette; he survives.
Charlotte and her husband John were founding members of Heritage United Methodist Church in Lafayette and faithfully attended until it closed some 40 years later. Charlotte was church secretary for Heritage United Methodist Church and Brown Street United Methodist Church for 23 years.
Charlotte was blessed to have been a current member of the Brady Lane Church.
Prior to working for the church, Charlotte worked as a secretary of the Chemical Engineering office at Purdue University for two and a half years.
Charlotte loved spending time in her garden and with her flowers, especially the violets. She was an avid NASCAR fan of Tony Stewart and Martin Truex Jr. More than anything, Charlotte loved spending time with her family, often cooking family meals. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving with her husband John is a son, Ron Whiteman (wife: Cheryl) of Lafayette.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Brady Lane Church (2701 Brady Lane Lafayette, IN); Pastor Jeff Keller to officiate. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Lafayette.
