Celebrating the Life of:
Clara M. Winter, 91, of Star City, Indiana, died at 12:02 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital of Lafayette, Indiana.
Clara was born on Monday, January 4, 1932, in Phoenix, Greenwood County, South Carolina to Clarence and Matilda Byers. They preceded her in death.
On Saturday, September 24, 1954, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Pulaski, Indiana she married Ralph M. Winter, he died Thursday, November 25, 2010.
Clara was a 1949 graduate of Chalmers High School of Chalmers, Indiana, moving to Chalmers in 2nd grade. She worked at the USDA office of Newton, Pulaski, and White counties. Retiring in1996 after 47 years of service. Clara was active in state and national Association of counties. She was also involved in the ASCS Employees association. She had lived Pulaski til 1985 then moved to Monticello, Indiana. Clara had most recently been living at Five Star Senior Residence in Lafayette, Indiana.
Clara is survived by her son Paul J. (wife Linda) Winter of Star City, Indiana, granddaughter, Linsey M. (husband Ryan Kolish of Winamac, Indiana; and three great grandchildren
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Matilda Byers.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pro-Indian Creek Cemetery of rural Pulaski County with Pastor Ed Clark officiating.
