Cynthia Jane McElroy

Cynthia Jane McElroy, 69, of Monon, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. Cynthia had been diagnosed with brain and lung cancer.

She was born September 5, 1953 in Rensselaer to the late Jack E. and Virginia E. (Weltzin) Lewis. Cynthia was a 1971 graduate of North White High School.

Cynthia was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church, Amvets Post 91, and Push-Back Cribbage Club #84. She worked several years at Vanguard National Trailer of Monon until her retirement in 2018. Cynthia also had fond memories of working weekends at Jimmy O’s Restaurant and Lounge of Monticello.

She enjoyed playing Cribbage with friends, was an avid reader, and cooking and hosting cookouts. Most of all, Cynthia cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved her dog, Gabby.

Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Dionne (Darney) McElroy of Monon, and Autumn (Ryan) McElroy of Lafayette. Siblings, Nick (Marilyn) Lewis of Monon, Tony (Diane) Lewis of Riverview, FL, Julie Beckefeld (Lewis) of Monon, and Jackie Roy (Lewis) of Paxton, IL. Grandchildren, Machya, Lillian, Maxine, LJ, and Alexandria.

Preceding her in death along with her parents is a sister, Becky Mueller.

A viewing will be held from 12 PM (EDT) until the time of Funeral Service 2 PM (EDT) Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Monon United Methodist Church (501 N. Market St. Monon, IN 47959).
