Danielle F. McKinley

Danielle F. McKinley, 93, of Lafayette, formerly of Buffalo Grove, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at her home.

Danielle was born on January 12, 1930 in Nice, France.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest C. McKinley, 1972.

She is survived by her son Jean-Pierre McKinley, daughter Caroline J. Hansen, married to Richard A. Hansen; Grandson’s Aaron J. Hansen married to Alison Hansen, and Zachary R. Hansen.

Danielle was diagnosed with cancer over 2 years ago, at that time she was given six months to live. She fought until the very end. She died at home surrounded by her family.

She loved crossword puzzles, reading, and going to the movies.

She embodied a strong work ethic, working for Astron Dental well into her eighties.

She was kind and very generous, always donating to animal shelters and to people in need.

 She was very proud to have become an American Citizen, learning English, and to be part of a military family. She shared wonderful stories with us of her life in France, her lover of her grandmother’s cooking, family and growing up during wartime.

She will be missed from all who knew her.
