David's Obituary

David Robert Houk, resident of Palm Bay, FL and formerly of Monticello, IN, went to be with our Lord and Savior, October 17th, 2024. David was born in Versailles, MO on June 3rd, 1950.

He loved the Lord, his family, and will be remembered for his love of music and playing his guitar. In his teen years he played with several local bands. He wrote and recorded songs and performed at a small opry house in W. Virginia in later years. Unfortunate physical limitations eventually became an obstacle for David's guitar playing. Despite these limitations David went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education; an Associate Degree in Arts; and was accepted into the Phi Theta Rappa Society. He was a mentor and encourager to many and retired in 2018 from Eastern Florida State College as a Student Advisor.

He is preceded in death by his Father Robert (Bob) Milton Houk and Mother Madge (Janice) Collier Houk. Surviving are David's three sisters, Yvonne Schweiger of Vero Beach, FL; Delores (De) McCoy of Palm Bay, FL; and Kathleen (Kathy) Carr.

Survivors also include nephews: Christopher Blount and Matthew Blount of Palm Bay, Fl; Todd Rapp of Vero Beach, FL and Brent Carr. Also included are nieces Nicole Blount of Alachua, FL; Tiffany Rapp of Branford, FL; and Jennifer Carr Long. There are 15 Grandnephews and 5 Grandnieces.
