Donna's Obituary
Donna J. Basan, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on May 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 10, 1939, in Gary, and spent her early years in Brook. Donna graduated from Lowell High School and attended Purdue University, where she met the love of her life, Harry Basan, who preceded her in death. Following their marriage, Donna and Harry lived in Washington and Attica before settling in Kentland where they made their home for the past 51 years.
Donna is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Soni Mohr (Steve); her sons, David Basan (Missy) and Bryan Basan; sister, Pat (Jerry) Carlson; and her granddaughters, Kristin Marlowe and Kelcie Lewis (Bailey) as well as great-grandchildren Preston and Barrett Marlowe. She was also preceded in death by her parents Ocey and Betty Franklin.
Donna enjoyed life’s simple pleasures such as decorating her home and gardening as well as treasured time spent with family and friends. She was an avid bridge player and golfer, loved creating crafts, and could often be found enjoying a good suspense novel.
Above all, Donna will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose kindness, warmth, generosity, and love touched all who knew her.
