Donna Leona Knochel

Donna Leona Knochel, 91, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus of West Lafayette. Donna was born September 23, 1928 to Emma (Helderle) and Roy Blume. She graduated from Wolcott High School in 1946 and married Arthur Knochel on September 28, 1946.

Donna served on the national council of Psi Iota Xi Sorority for several years and became national president in 1960. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in elementary education from St. Joseph’s College in 1965 and later received a Master’s degree from Indiana State University. She taught at Wolcott Elementary for 2 years and 26 years at Goodland Elementary until her retirement in 1993. Donna was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Sorority, Jasper County Retired Teachers, and served on the St. Joseph’s College Alumni Board and the Jasper County Hospital Board.

She and her husband farmed and operated Lake Arthur Estates Mobile Home Park in Remington. They enjoyed spending their winters in Ft. Myers, FL with many memorable visits by their children and grandchildren. The couple were world travelers with many great adventures.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, 2 brothers, and a grandson. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Provo of Worthington, IN, by 3 sons: Don Knochel (Louise) of Remington, Jim Knochel (Cindy) of Dublin, OH, Phil Knochel (Cynthia) of Columbus, OH, and one daughter, Wanda Monjon (Chuck) of Goodland. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Wolcott Cemetery on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Wolcott Cemetery. Donna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Goodland and memorials may be made in her name. (Trinity Lutheran Church, 217 West Jasper St., Goodland, IN 47948).
