Doris Jean Griffin

Doris Jean Griffin, 81, of Monon passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020. She was a lifelong resident of Monon. She was born September 4, 1939 to the late Ivan and Jennie Kesler. She graduated from Monon High School with the class of 1958.

She worked a few years in Monticello. On October 17, 1959, she married Donald E. Griffin. Her life work was raising her 3 children and attending the grandchildren’s activities. She supported her sons’ farming operations with field side meals during planting and harvest seasons for many years. Doris and her husband enjoyed sitting in the bleachers watching their grandchildren’s basketball, football and volleyball games all over the state of Indiana.

Doris loved gardening, riding her bike, shopping on QVC, and baking cakes for the family’s birthdays, graduations, bridal showers, weddings, and baby showers. She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren.

Surviving along with her husband, Donald, are their 3 children, Donna Mills (husband Tom) of Lafayette, Scott Griffin (wife Cindy) of Monon, Donald-Boo (wife Peggy) of Monon, and her sister, Jenna Doyle of Dayton, Ohio. Doris is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5(soon to be 7) great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and 3 of her siblings, Peggy Doyle, Alvin “Earl” Kesler, and Ivan “Carl” Kesler.

There will be a private memorial service for family on Tuesday morning, December 22,2020 at Clapper Family Funeral Home in Monon. Burial will follow at Bedford Cemetery.
