Dorothy L. Mansfield

Dorothy L. Mansfield, age 86, of West Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at IU Health Hospital of Lafayette. She was born on October 18, 1935 in McAllen, Texas to the late Ira and Gladys Myers. She was married to the late Jimmie L. Mansfield on October 31, 1954 at Badger Grove Baptist Church, and then later became members of the Federated Church of Brookston. Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Brookston High School.

After high school, Dorothy attended Ball State University. She was employed at the Lafayette Employment Office as a Labor Market Analyst, where she later retired.

Dorothy had a passion for china painting. She was an extremely talented artist and would display her paintings at local art shows. She was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority and was a member of the Board at the Federated Church of Brookston. Dorothy was known to have a “green thumb”. 

Dorothy loved her family deeply and unconditionally. She is survived by her sons, Roger (Patty) Mansfield of Carmel, IN and Brett (Monica) Mansfield of Evansville, IN. Grandson, Mitchell (Kaitlin) Mansfield; great-granddaughter Harper Mansfield and great-grandson Holden Mansfield. Her love for her grandson and great-grandchildren was like none other. Also surviving are sisters, Elizabeth M. Heslar and Alice Thornburg. Dorothy is survived by many nieces and nephews and dearest of friends, too many to name.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband is a brother, Richard Myers.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM (EDT) until the time of Memorial Service 11 AM (EDT) Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Pastor David Doles to officiate. Inurnment to follow in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
