Doug E. Reece

January 30, 1971 - May 10, 2024

Douglas Eugene “Doug” Reece, 53, of Lafayette, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Franciscan Health of Greenwood from complications of a stroke.

Doug was born January 30, 1971, in Lafayette to Roger and Becky (Copenhaver) Reece. Doug grew up in the Frankfort and Lafayette areas.

He attended Clinton Prairie High School until his senior year when he moved to Tennessee. Doug graduated from Hardin County High School in 1990 where he met the love of his life April (White) Reece.

Doug and April got married on September 4, 1993, at the Love & Truth Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. His first-born son, Hayden Reece, was born in Selmer, Tennessee on January 25,1995. Trevor, his youngest, was born in Frankfort, Indiana on October 24, 1997.

In 2000 Doug and his family moved back to Indiana and over the 10 years in the area, Doug was a football coach with his boys’ teams, a car salesman, and Pastor of his church, Living Water Worship Center.

In 2009 Doug and his family moved to Tennessee where he was involved at Faith Pointe Church in Adamsville. He ran stats for his son’s high school football team and produced a weekly high school football show. Doug was also a sports talk-show host out of Lexington, Tennessee.

Doug and April returned to Frankfort, Indiana in 2014.  In 2016 Doug got his Bachelor of Science in Cinematography from Full Sail University. Doug had a passion for cinematography and digital media production.  He loved taking pictures of nature, especially at Prophetstown State Park and the Celery Bogs in West Lafayette.  Throughout his career, Doug worked for WLFI in videography and as a camera man and for JP Video in production and commercials.  He most recently worked for Acculevel for the last three years. He had also worked for Bob Rohrman, Mike Raisor, Thompson Brothers and DeFord auto dealerships.

Doug had a larger-than-life personality and enjoyed talking to and joking with others.  Doug loved serving the Lord and spending his time in outreach as the Digital Media Producer for the ministry.  He was a longtime member of Church Alive in Lafayette. Doug modeled his Christian faith through his charismatic, humorous and caring personality, always extending kindness and mercy to everyone he was around.  From 2005 until 2009, Doug felt the call to plant a church in Frankfort, Indiana and Pastored Living Water Worship Center. He brought his family together in this mission as they served together.

Doug was super proud of his family, especially his two sons, Hayden and Trevor.  He would tell anyone he met how proud he was of them. He did things to extremes; if the idea came to him, he was 100% all-in. He had a list written down for them of life’s principles and wanted them to be successful in everything. He called his family every day. They joke that they don’t know how he had enough time to make as many calls as he did. He made everyone feel special.

Doug’s legacy lives on through his organ donation. He has saved and significantly improved the lives of many through this donation.

Surviving with his wife, April, are his two boys, Hayden and Trevor Reece, both of Manhattan, Kansas; his father, Roger Reece (Sue); his mother, Becky Fox (Fred); and his siblings, Dusty Anglea (Brad) of Frankfort, Scott Fox (Tiffany) of Lafayette, Erin Haynes (Ryan) of Lafayette, Shawn Reece (LeAnn) of Knoxville, TN, Todd Fox of Lafayette and Stephani Reece of Chicago.  Also surviving are his in-laws, Richard & Marla White of Adamsville, TN and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.
