Edith's Obituary
Edith (Schmid) Holdcraft, 90, of Remington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Lafayette.
Born on July 19, 1935, in Munich, Germany, Edith carried a strong spirit and deep love for family throughout her life. She married the love of her life, William Holdcraft, in 1963, and together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and caring for others. William preceded her in death in 2002.
Edith was a talented seamstress for most of her life, a craft she took great pride in and one that reflected her patience, creativity, and attention to detail. She was also a past member of Tri-Kappa Sorority. Outside of work, Edith found joy in life’s simple pleasures — tending to her flowers and garden, cooking for those she loved, shopping, and most of all, spending cherished time with her family. Her home and heart were always open to the people she loved most.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Jeannette (Fred) Widner of Monticello and Brian Holdcraft of Fishers; her grandchildren, Brandi Overstreet, Brittany Jackson, Cole Jackson, Hailey Widner, Ian Widner, Jack Holdcraft, and Amelia Holdcraft; and her five great-grandchildren, who brought her tremendous pride and happiness. Edith is also survived by her brothers, Joe (Renata) Jeschke and Walter (Inga) Jeschke, and her nephews Richard and Klaus.
Along with her husband and parents, Edith was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristina, and her brother Walter.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Edith from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home in Remington. Interment will follow at Remington Cemetery. Edith will be remembered for her caring heart, quiet strength, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends.
