Ellen's Obituary
Ellen Elizabeth Sichting, 36, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Born on May 1, 1990, in Lafayette, IN, she was the cherished daughter of Dan and Lucinda (Shumaker) Sichting. Ellen was a 2009 graduate of Bloomfield Jr. Sr. High school and furthered her education at Franklin College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business. During her time at Franklin, she was an active member of the Tri Delta sorority.
Ellen married Chad Strauch on October 24, 2020, and he survives her, along with their beloved golden doodle, Ralph. She was a dedicated member of the League of Women Voters and the Franklin College Alumni Association, and she found joy in volunteering at the local bookstore and election centers. Ellen's hobbies included taking Pilates classes, gardening, reading, and enjoying walks with Ralph, as well as indulging in the occasional reality TV show.
She is survived by her loving husband, Chad Strauch; her parents, Dan and Lucinda Sichting of Brookston; her sister, Danielle Sichting of Brookston; and her father and mother-in-law, Greg and Debbie Strauch of Mooresville. Ellen is also survived by several aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James Elmer and Helen Sichting, and her maternal grandparents, Charles and Nancy Shumaker.
A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Franklin College Napolitan Student Center, 2nd floor Branigan Room. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
