Ernest's Obituary
Ernest “Larry” Weston, 90, of Brookston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his home. Born on June 7, 1936, in Chalmers, he was the son of the late Marcus Ernest and Cynthia (Wooldrige) Weston. Larry was a 1955 graduate of Brookston High School.
He first married Connie Young on May 13, 1961, who preceded him in death on March 10, 1992. Later, he found love again and married Sue York on May 10, 1996, who survives him.
Larry dedicated 30 years of his career to Staley of Lafayette before retiring. He was passionate about fishing, mushroom hunting, watching racing and the Cubs on TV, and visiting casinos.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, and his children: Tamla (Steve) McKinley of Lafayette, Jennifer Weston of Lafayette, Brett (Cindy) Weston of Bringhurst, IN, Shelley Weston of Lafayette, Leslie (Randy Masterson) Weston of Flora, Jack Phelps of Brookston, Denise (Greg) Phelps-King of Nashville, TN, and Benny (Tomomi) Phelps of Virginia Beach, VA; Daughter-in-law, Sara Phelps and brother, Gary (Marcia) Weston of Brookston. Larry's legacy continues through his 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie, his parents, two children, Mary Oliver and Charles Fulton, as well as three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five sisters and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 PM (EST) at the Psi Iota Xi Community Building (206 S. Prairie St. Brookston, IN) on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
