Esther I. Voglund

Esther I. Voglund, 91, of Kentland, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at IMH Resident Home, Watseka.

She was born March 16, 1927 in Newton County to the late Thomas and Ethel (Milljour) Dewing and was a 1945 graduate of A.J. Kent High School in Kentland.

Her marriage was to Cecil E. Voglund on May 8, 1949 in the Kentland Christian Church; he preceded her in death in 2002.

Mrs. Voglund was a homemaker and worked at Better Coil and Viskase for a number of years.

Esther was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Kentland. She helped to clean the church for years and volunteered at many church functions. She prepared food and helped serve at their annual turkey dinners.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables and flowers.

Surviving is a son, Roger Voglund of Kentland; a daughter, Barbara Bills (husband: Ronald) of Watseka, IL. and a sister-in-law, Verna Dewing of Kentland. Esther loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Tony Voglund (wife: Shane), Tracy Voglund (wife: Becky) and Ryan and Brandon Bills. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death with her parents and husband are three brothers, Walter, Ralph and Donald Dewing and a sister, Julia Turnpaugh.

Friends may call from 5 – 8 p.m. (CST) Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church (6225 West 1500 South Kentland, IN) and also from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018; Rev. Clint Fink to officiate. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
