Garry's Obituary
Garry R. Young, 80, of Monon, passed away on July 10, 2025, at IU Health Arnett Hospital of Lafayette, surrounded by his family. Born on July 5, 1945, in Monon to the late Thomas and Alberta (Mohler) Young, Garry attended Monon High School. He proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge.
Garry was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW, and American Legion. He cherished his time working on the farm with livestock, driving a truck, trimming trees, working at Wabash Trailer, and selling produce at Rural King of Monticello. Garry enjoyed singing karaoke, gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends.
He is survived by his two brothers, Gerold (Phyllis) Young of Monon and Larry (Ruth) Young of Walton, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many great friends. Preceding him in death, along with his parents, are his son, Derek Young; sister, Patricia “Pat” Hall and brother-in-law, Arnold Hall.
Friends may call from 11 AM (EST) until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 PM (EST) on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Interment will follow in Bedford Cemetery of Monon.
