Gary's Obituary
Gary J. Brammer, 91, of West Lafayette, formerly of Donovan, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Milner Community Health Care Center of Rossville. He was born August 19, 1931 in Chicago, IL to the late Ray and Virginia (Cady) Brammer. Gary was a 1950 graduate of Donovan High School.
His marriage was to Charlette Berry on July 17, 1954 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Beaverville, IL. Charlette preceded him in death on August 29, 2022. Gary and Charlette had been former residents of Sheldon, IL and Fowler, IN.
Gary had worked in the maintenance department for several years at Purdue University. Prior to his employment at Purdue, Gary worked in the machine shop at Fowler Auto Supply as a mechanic. He loved watching sports including Purdue football and basketball. He also enjoyed reading western novels, attending antique tractor pulling shows, and cherished time spent with his grandkids.
Gary is survived by children, Teresa (Gary) Gretencord of Earl Park, IN, Chuck (Diane) Brammer of Cape Coral, FL, and Tim Brammer of Pine Village, IN. Grandchildren, Jennifer Fry, Michelle Thurston, Lauren Thomas, Amanda Brammer, and Amber Brammer; 7 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death along with his parents and wife are two children, Joey and Tammy Brammer; one brother, Jack Brammer.
Friends may call from 10 AM (CDT) until the time of Funeral Mass 11 AM (CDT) Friday, July 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (308 St. Charles St. Beaverville, IL 60912). Fr. Michael Powell to officiate. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
