Georgia's Obituary

In a world filled with colors, Georgia Ross Clouse stood like a masterpiece. Born February 9, 1950, in Watseka, IL, she was reared in Kentland, Indiana, where her vibrant personality began to blossom. Encouraging her artistic talents were her parents Janice (Staton) and George W. Ross. Both now are deceased. Georgia graduated from South Newton High School.

After studying at DePauw University, Georgia went west to earn a B.A from the University of Colorado and an M.A. from the San Francisco School of Fine Arts. Later she went even further west to China. In Beijing, she spent eight adventurous years living abroad and teaching. She briefly managed a restaurant while there, thus learning to make edible Asian masterpieces to recreate for her friends and family. Georgia had four equally colorful sisters: Connie, Sarah, Ellen, and Nancy (also deceased). Their gatherings were filled with mischievous stories, arguments, and discussions about restaurants and plays at Georgia’s beloved Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. Georgia was a proud mother to her son, Chauncey, and boasted whenever asked about her grandson, Atlas.

Georgia’s love for the land and her family’s farm led her to produce a radio show on WGFA where she passionately discussed agricultural issues close at heart. She joined the Kentland Rotary Club and Tri Kappa Sorority, doing as much as she was able to contribute, her talents to the community. At one point she was a member of the Century Club in which members had to have had their passports stamped in over one hundred countries.

Georgia Ross Clouse may have left this world, but her spirit and artwork continues to brighten the lives of those she left behind. So, here’s to you, Georgia, may you find heaven’s canvas as lovely as the one you created on earth. Cheers!!
