Jane E. Murray

Jane E. Murray, 63, of Brookston, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Franciscan Health Hospital of Lafayette.

She was born April 28, 1959 in Rensselaer, IN to the late Earnest and Anita (Walters) Howard. Jane attended Lafayette Jefferson High school and received her cosmetology license from Lafayette Beauty Academy.

She devoted 45 years to her husband Darrell Murray on October 9, 1976 in Dayton and he survives. Jane was a faithful member of the Delphi First Assembly of God.

She worked as a Beautician for several years at The Cabaret Hair Salon of Lafayette. Jane was a natural entrepreneur owning her own shop in Lafayette called A Purple Haze and most recently managed Jacob’s ReDesigned of Delphi specializing in repurposed clothing with proceeds benefiting First Assembly of God.

Jane was artistic and creative at heart, she loved designing her own custom art and furniture. She also enjoyed exploring nature and gardening.

Surviving along with her husband Darrell, are their children, Joseph Darrell (Jessica) Murray Jr. of Idaville and Jason Murray of Lafayette. Grandchildren, Jacob (Ashlee), Sloane, Emily, and Kylie. Jane was a beloved aunt to countless nieces and nephews; a nana to Elizabeth Jane and Charlie. Jane is also survived by her siblings, Patti (Rodney) Pearson of Toledo, OH, Don Howard of Lafayette, and Linda (Jeff) Brooks also of Lafayette.

Preceding her in death along with her parents is infant son, Michael and three brothers, Danny, David, and Dale Howard.

Friends may call from 10 AM (EDT) until the time of Memorial Service 12 PM (EDT) Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Delphi First Assembly of God. Pastor Brent Oliver to officiate. Inurnment of ashes will be held at a later date. In honor of Jane’s wishes, it is requested something purple be worn.
