Janet Groen

Janet (Knapp) Groen, of Fowler, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. She was born on July 30, 1939 in Garrett, IN to the late Harold and Frances (Thompson) Knapp.

Her marriage was to Ludwig W. Groen on April 2, 1967; Ludwig recently passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Janet was a member of the Fowler Methodist Church and Red Hat Ladies Society of Lafayette. She was a homemaker and helped Ludwig on the farm for several years.

Janet loved birds, especially Cardinals. She enjoyed planting flowers, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Neil (Terry) Groen of Lafayette. Siblings, Myrna (Paul) Demske of Avilla, IN, Reba Sliger of Fort Wayne, IN, and Norman Knapp of Florida. Janet is also survived by her grandchildren, Edie (D.J.) Hall, Zachary Cole Groen, Lukas Groen, Joey Niccum, Austin Groen, Lane Groen, and Marcus Robertson.

Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents is a daughter, Arlene; siblings, Dale, Elden, Ivan Knapp, and Imogene LaRue.

A joint service for Janet and Ludwig will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the Fowler United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Service 11 AM. Interment to follow in Remington Cemetery. Rev. Mary Van Wijk to officiate.
