Jeffrey's Obituary

Jeffrey L. Valentine, 58, of Remington, Indiana, passed away on May 22, 2026.

Jeff was born on October 20, 1967, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Christie and Harold Valentine. After graduating from Tri-County High School in 1986, he attended Nashville Auto-Diesel College. He was a fiercely hardworking man his entire life, entirely dedicated to providing for his family.

An ultimate tinkerer, Jeff was happiest when he was turning wrenches in the garage, building model cars, or working on motorcycles and full-sized vehicles. He loved being involved in his kids' projects when they were young, a tradition that proudly continued into their adulthood as he helped them tackle home and garage projects of their own.

To know Jeff was to know a man who never met a stranger. He was outgoing, loved fishing, and loved hanging out with his friends. He was also famously quick-witted, possessing a sharp humor that usually manifested in "talking smack" to all of his kids. Jeff was a man of supreme confidence—often jokingly reminding everyone that he was "the smartest guy in the room." If you had a question about absolutely anything, Jeff had a legendary ability to make you believe he knew the exact answer. The only exception to his vast knowledge, his family fondly notes, was figuring out what was for dinner.

Beneath the banter and the garage projects was a deeply devoted husband, father, son, and friend who worked tirelessly for the people he loved.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Valentine; his father, Harold Valentine; his brother, David Valentine; his daughters, Erika Gilbert and Sabrina Echito (husband, Evan); and his sons, Anthony Valentine, Andrew Valentine, and Brandon Barnhart (wife, Maria); and 2 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Christie Valentine; his grandmothers, Mary Homeier and Bessie Valentine; and his grandfather, James Valentine.

Friends may call from 12:00 PM (EST) until the time of Funeral Service 2:00 PM (EST) Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Burial to follow in Remington Cemetery.
