Jerry's Obituary
Jerry Lee Tolley, 64, of Monticello, Indiana, passed away, surrounded by his family, at IU Health White Memorial Hospital, on July 22, 2025.
He was born on October 10, 1960, in Monticello, Indiana to Robert Harold and Sharon Lou (Roth) Tolley, who preceded him in death.
He was married on September 1, 1984, in Monticello, Indiana at the First Baptist Church of Monticello to Lillian Laura (Evanger) Tolley. They have two children Jason Lee Tolley (wife, Han Thuy Dung) and Laura Marie (Tolley) Dant (husband, Jordan Michael Dant), a granddaughter, Stella Nora Dant, and a two grand-pets, Mackey and Walter.
He is also survived by his brothers, Randy Tolley (wife, Cindy) and Steve Tolley (wife, Linda) and sister, Janet (Tolley) Engelberth (husband, Jim).
Jerry was a 1979 graduate of Twin Lakes Highschool. He lettered in baseball, basketball, and tennis and was an avid Purdue Boilermaker and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion, lifetime member of the Sons of AMVETS, and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
After graduating high school he worked as a plumber, at McGill’s manufacturing, and on a hog farm before working 29 years at UPS. Over the years, he had routes in a number of towns in the area and truly cared about all of his customers. Jerry and Lillian raised their family in Remington, before moving back to Monticello after retirement.
Everyone knew where to find Jerry, outside with his family and friends. He loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Jasper County Fair Board for several years and spent many hours volunteering there while his children participated in 4-H. Jerry was incredibly proud of creating a hobby farm with his family where they raised all the animals that they showed at the local 4-H fair, and more. Above all, no one was a stranger to Jerry. Everyone was a friend he hadn’t met yet.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Fred L. Miller Memorial Chapel of the Roscka Roth & Clapper Funeral Home from 11AM until time of service celebrating Jerry’s life at 1PM. Interment will follow at Riverview IOOF Cemetery Monticello.
In lieu of flowers, Jerry would like you to donate to your local 4-H club or local county fair.
