Jo Ann Sharkey

Jo Ann (Smith) Sharkey, 92, of Wolcott, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center of Brook.

She was born January 4, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to the late Harry D. Smith Sr. and Mildred (Moore) Smith. Jo Ann was a graduate of Monticello High School. Her first marriage was to Paul Richard Hintzman and he preceded her in death in 1950. She later married Ralph Roland Sharkey and he passed away in 2015.

Jo Ann worked for Northway cabinet factory and Bryan’s, both of Rensselaer and at Thayer’s Ribbon Factory of Wolcott. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, listening to music, and loved to travel. Jo Ann cherished time spent with her family and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her children, David Eugene (Karen) Hintzman, Deborah Diane (Jerry) Rowe, Brenda Kay (Wayne) Miller, Robert Wayne Sharkey (companion: Debra Hoffmeyer), Carole Ann (Bill) Cross, Lisa Marie (Gene Ha) Sharkey. Stepchildren, Linda Lou Sharkey, Lowell (Shellia) Sharkey, and Kenny (Janna) Sharkey. Jo Ann is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is her parents and brother Daniel Smith and sister Barbara Hintzman.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM (EDT) until the time of funeral service 11:00 AM (EDT) Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home of Wolcott. Pastor Don Newman to officiate. Interment to follow in Wolcott Cemetery.
