Jo Gay Blissitt

Jo Gay Blissitt, 86, of Monon, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 3:30 a.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023 at White Oak Health Campus of Monticello.

  Jo Gay was born August 20, 1937 in Monon to the late Howard C. and Marguerite (Kellogg) Johnson. She was a secretary at State Farm for 28.5 years before her retiring in 1999. Jo Gay enjoyed all sports, especially watching the Cubs, Colts and Purdue. 

She married Clevie Blissitt on March 30, 1956 in the Monon United Methodist Church. Clevie passed away on February 3, 2019. They were married 62 years. 

Jo Gay was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church and former member of the Modern Homemakers Home Extension Club.  She was a charter member and past president of the Monon Zeta Rho Chapter of Tri Kappa. 

In her earlier years, she enjoyed camping and riding horses with her husband in Brown County, IN. She occasionally enjoyed trips to the casino and in most recent years loved spending winter months in Florida. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (husband: Chris) Wiese of Reynolds; two sons, Jeffery (wife: Pam) Blissitt Lafayette and Rick (wife: Ann) Blissitt of Battle Ground, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Blissitt of Noblesville. Jo Gay is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents is a son, Eric. 

Friends may call from 10:00 AM (EST) until the time of Memorial Service 12:00 PM (EST) Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Pastor Adrienne Hinshaw to officiate. If you are able to celebrate the life of Jo Gay on Wednesday the family does request you arrive in your comfortable and casual attire.
