JoAnn M. Kyburz

July 19, 1937 - October 03, 2024

JoAnn M. Kyburz, 87, of Wolcott, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Parkview Haven in Francesville.  Over the last 3 years, JoAnn had battled COVID spending time in rehabilitation and lived the last three years with her daughter, Sandy, in Monticello.

JoAnn was born July 19, 1937, in Wolcott, Indiana to the late Everal and Rita (Billings) Blanchette and was a 1955 graduate of Wolcott High School.

Her marriage was to Edward S. Kyburz in Wolcott, Indiana.  Together the couple would share five children, Richie, Scott, Sandy, Janice and Eddie.

On July 19, 1983 (JoAnn’s birthday) her husband Ed would pass away; followed by the unexpected death of their son, Richie, just ten days later.  Through all the tough times, JoAnn persevered.

JoAnn worked for Indiana Ribbon in Wolcott for many years, most of them as a night shift manager.  In the daytime, she would do the books for the family business, Ed’s Petroleum Service all the while raising, loving and supporting their five children.  She later worked for the Wolcott Grocery Store, owned by her son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Lorie.

JoAnn enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches and was an avid BINGO player.  She liked taking trips to play the slots in Las Vegas, even if it meant going by herself.  She jokingly loved Jello Shots before work, accidentally eating some after a holiday weekend when the kids left them out.

Surviving are her children, Sandy Musser of Monticello, Janice Scott of Florida and Eddie Kyburz (wife: Robin) of Wolcott and two sister, Kathy Ryan (husband: Tim) and Karen White (husband: Ken) both of Ft. Wayne.  JoAnn loved spending time with her family, especially her 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death with her husband, Ed, and two sons, Richie and Scott, are two brothers, Kenny and Kerry Blanchette and two sisters, Joyce Beaver and Janet Prescott-Murphy.

Per JoAnn’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Wolcott Cemetery.
