John Allen Flack, 72, of Monticello, passed away unexpectedly at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at IU Arnett Hospital of Lafayette.
He was born December 19, 1949 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late George A. and Ruth A. (Carter) Flack. John was a 1969 graduate of Frontier High School.
John served in the Indiana National Guard from 1969-1975.
His first marriage was to Myrt Robey on November 27, 1970 in Reynolds, Indiana; they later divorced. John then married Debra Whited on February 14, 1996 in Las Vegas; she survives.
Mr. Flack was the owner/operator of 4 Star Escort, a pilot car company escorting wide loads throughout the Midwest. John enjoyed going to work every day with his wife and son Duane. Prior to 4 Star Escort, John owned 4 Star Taxi for over 20 years. Mr. Flack was a deputy with the White County Sheriff's Department from 1977-1982; he also owned Tippecanoe White County Auto Salvage in the late 90’s and prior to that owned/operated White County Glass & Upholstery Shop; John ran the glass division and his mom, Ruth, ran the upholstery side.
When not at work, John enjoyed golfing with his friends at the Edwood Glen, Battle Ground and Ravine’s golf courses. He also bowled in leagues on Tuesday’s in Lafayette and Wednesday’s in Monticello.
Surviving with his wife, Debra Flack are his children, Duane Flack (companion: Missy Kyle) of Lafayette and Kerri Dodd (husband: Bert) of Vincennes; two step-children, Chris Pherson (wife: Kandace) of Delphi and Holly Dixon of Monticello; a brother, Russell Flack (wife: Linda) of Brookston and three grandchildren, Amethyst, Kohen and Carly.
Preceding him in death with his parents are two brothers, Don and Kevan Flack.
