Karen A. Stover, 76, of Brookston, passed away at 3:07 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 9, 1942 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Johnny and Lois Rose (Crowell) Crayden. Johnny died shortly after her birth in an accident and Lois Rose later married Robert Wilson whom Karen always called her second Dad. Karen attended Mulberry High School and later earned her GED from Frontier.
On February 14, 1960 Karen married the love of her life Glen L. “Poke” Stover at the Brookston United Methodist Church, a loving marriage of 58 years; he survives.
Mrs. Stover was a longtime member of the Brookston United Methodist Church. Karen was an example of how to live as a Christian, always putting herself behind the needs of others. Her love for Jesus was a guiding light in how she cared for her family and friends. She was also a former member of the Over 20 Home Economics Club of Brookston and the Psi Iota Xi sorority.
Karen worked at NAPB/AgriPro, an agricultural research company for a few years and also was a part-time clerk at the Brookston Post Office for many years.
Karen and her husband enjoyed many trips together to Casinos all over the country. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans for the grandkids. The most important thing in her life was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving with her husband Glen are their two children, Gregory (Christine) Stover of Frankfort and Kimberly (Frank) Collins of Williamsport; two brothers, Bobby (Sandy) Wilson and Bill (Elaine) Wilson both of Lafayette and her five grandchildren, Cassandra, Roxana, Craig, Cody and Caleb. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death with her parents is her step-father, Robert Wilson.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston and also from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Brookston United Methodist Church; Rev.
