Karen Lambert, age 78, passed away on March 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who touched countless lives with her kindness, strength, and unwavering support.
Karen was born on January 31, 1948. She attended Goshen College, where she earned her degree in Dietary and Nutrition, and later worked at Purdue University as a dietitian. On December 21, 1969, she married the love of her life, her husband Terry Lambert. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and love. Karen embraced farm life, working alongside Terry—driving grain trucks to the elevator and walking beans—always willing to do whatever was needed.
As her children grew older, Karen pursued her passion for education, returning to school at St. Joseph College to earn her teaching degree. She went on to become a beloved teacher within the Tri-County Schools, where she made a lasting impact on her students.
She was a faithful member of First Christian Church of Remington, where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, and she was also an active member of Tri Kappa Sorority. Karen had a deep love for staying active, gardening, and sewing—often creating beautiful outfits for her daughters and their dolls. She was also known for making an incredible butterscotch pie that her family will always remember.
Karen cherished time with her family. She and her family enjoyed camping trips and visits to amusement parks, creating memories that will be treasured forever. She never missed her daughters’ sporting events and was always their biggest supporter.
In retirement, Karen found great joy in reconnecting with former students, reading to her grandchildren, and attending their activities and sporting events. Her love for her family and dedication to others will be her lasting legacy.
She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Lambert; her sisters, Cheryl Green and Sandra Kauffman; her daughters, Shelley Burnside (Tim Burnside) and Amanda Hartman (Dustin Hartman); and her cherished grandchildren, Aiden and Gage Burnside, and Brody and Cole Hartman. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
