Karilyn Kay Brown, 88, of Monon, passed away on March 23, 2026, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Lafayette. She was born on December 27, 1937, in Francesville, the beloved daughter of the late John and Hazel (Onken) Robinson.
Karilyn graduated from Monon High School in 1956 and, that same August, married the love of her life, Larry Brown. Their marriage became the heart of their family, a constant source of strength and warmth.
Karilyn was a longtime and cherished member of the Monon United Methodist Church and an active participant in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a lifelong love of antiques, especially dolls, teddy bears, and holiday collectibles. A passionate reader, she enjoyed her book club and could often be found immersed in a new novel. Her enthusiasm for ancestry research brought her great joy, and she loved passing along her discoveries to her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry, and their children: Lea Ann Miller of South Bend; Lori (Mitchell) Brown-Runyon of Lowell; Kimberly (Gary) Brown-Creigh of Monticello; and Larry L. “Chip” Brown II of Lafayette. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy East of Danville, IN, and Nancy Princell of Monon.
Karilyn leaves behind her grandchildren—Ember (Luke) Miller-Fairbank, Abigale (Alex) Bowman, Emily (Nate) Woods, Hannah (Justin) LaValle, Katelyn Creigh, and Larry Michael Creigh—as well as her great-grandson, Louis Bowman, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ralph Robinson, Dianne Brown, and Jack Robinson.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM (EST) until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM (EST) on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon, with Pastor Russ Alley officiating. Interment will follow at Bedford Cemetery in Monon.
Memorial contributions may be made in Karilyn’s memory to the Monon Methodist Church.
